Climb a series of hills past one of the alpaca farms found on Manitoulin, until you reach Green Bay Rd. where you turn left and enjoy an exceptional vista of Bass L., Sheguiandah Bay and Ten Mile Point. Before long the road begins to descend and takes you to an intersection. Go straight through the intersection onto Bidwell Rd. You will pass through beautiful countryside all along this windy road that brings you back to #6. (A side trip into Manitowaning is recommended at this point. Turn right on #6, then left onto Queen St. The town of Manitowaning has all amenities. It features an interesting museum and St. Paul’s, the oldest Anglican Church in Northern Ontario with its beautiful stained glass windows. Down by the public beach you will find the old mill and the Norisle steamship. To the east is Wikwemikong, the only Unceded Reserve on the Island, host of the largest POW WOW and the beautiful Bebamikawe Memorial trail). Meanwhile, back at the junction of Bidwell Rd. and #6, turn left (north) onto #6. Enjoy the paved shoulders, stop for a break at High Falls and take in the beautiful prairie-like scenery on your way to Ten Mile Point with its panoramic view of the North Channel, Georgian Bay and La Cloche Mountains. The trip continues north on #6, starting with a thrilling 2km downhill ride. Back in Sheguiandah, you can visit the museum, old mill, swim at the dock, enjoy a good meal and photograph the two picturesque waterfalls on Bass Creek.
